Our Take
Apple didn’t chase a gimmick this year. It attacked the two complaints every iPhone owner actually has: the battery dying before dinner, and zoom photos falling apart past 2×. A 5,567 mAh cell rated for 30 hours of video is the real headline here — and combined with the efficiency of the 2nm A20 Pro, it finally makes “charge every other day” realistic.
The camera story is more interesting than the spec sheet suggests. Variable aperture on the main lens is a genuine first for iPhone, the 48MP periscope at 100mm puts it in DSLR-telephoto territory, and 12GB of RAM means this hardware has headroom for years of iOS updates. The catch is the price: $1,299 is $100 more than last year’s Pro Max started at. If your current phone still holds a full day, this is a want. If you’re upgrading anyway — this is the most complete iPhone yet.
