Our Take
The Mini 5 Pro is the easiest recommendation in consumer drones right now: a 249 g airframe that skips registration in the US and most of the EU, paired with a 1-inch 50 MP sensor and 4K/120fps that used to be reserved for bigger, heavier drones. Add 36 minutes of flight (52 with Battery Plus) and omnidirectional nightscape sensing, and the compromises you used to accept in a “travel drone” mostly disappear.
The trade-offs are small but real: the 1-inch sensor still trails the Mavic 4 Pro’s 4/3 Hasselblad camera for serious photography, the $759 drone-only price climbs fast once you add the Fly More Combo and Battery Plus, and if you fly with Battery Plus installed you may cross the 250 g threshold depending on where you live. For travelers, hikers and first-time pilots, none of that changes the verdict.
What we like
249 g: no US registration, usually fine in the EU
1″ CMOS sensor with 50 MP stills
4K/120fps and 10-bit D-Log M
36–52 min flight time
Omnidirectional nightscape sensing
What to check
Battery Plus can exceed 250 g
Camera trails the Mavic 4 Pro
Best value needs the $1,099 combo
Renders are illustrative, not DJI photos
